Thing 1: iPad Basics

Student iPads
I am trying to give my students more choice in demonstrating what they have learned. One way that I give choices is through a choice board, a tic tac toe board filled with assignments and activities. One choice is using the iPad. I am trying to fill folders with apps that match my units so I can keep students on topic but still give them options. I name folders by unit (ex. Weather, clothing). Also, I've been incorporating centers in my classes. At centers, I usually have students completing a project, not just playing a game. Sometimes, students need to use more than one app. I can put all apps in one folder for a project to make jumping between apps easier for students.

Folders help me categorize apps for different types of lessons. As I look through blogs, Pinterest, and Twitter, I find ideas for apps. I download them and categorize them so when I'm lesson planning, I don't need to remember a specific app. I can just click on the category that matches my lesson. For example, I am working on reading with one of my native speakers. I have categories made to help with different reading skills. I also have folders for making presentations and practicing numbers in Spanish.
